Gresley Carriages in Detail

It appears to be drawing 18705N which I do have. Do you realise that the drawing in the Harris book is incorrectly captioned? The drawing is actually a 52' 2 1/2" underframe.

Hi Mike, oh - no I did not. Thank you for taking the time to post it though, it's very much appreciated.

Hi Mike, trying not to sound greedy but if you do happen to have the rivetted angle GAs for non-vestibule and vestibuled that would be smashing.

Mike,

Thank you very much for posting these drawings. I have only a passing interest in the LNER and am very unlikely to model a Gresley carriage but I do appreciate good draughtsmanship. It is a joy to view the drawings and I hope modellers of the same appreciate what you have made accessible.

As modellers original drawings are essential for our craft of reproducing the past in miniature. There are hundreds of drawing held by individuals and institutions which are not always available for study. Most, if not all, have no comercial value but to modellers they are invaluable.

Ian.

Hi Mike, this is such a fantastic resource. My heartfelt thanks for taking the time to post this information over the last few years. If I can cast your mind back to the posting #50 (1st August 2021) containing drawing no. 12048N. I was wondering if you had the middle section of this scanned as I think the three central dimensions of the widest part of the carriage are missing from all of the other views. I beleive that I can infer them from other dimensions but it would be good to confirm them. I've drawn a red box around them.

Also, do you have a similar drawing for the brake end? I'm wondering if the turn under radius is the same.

Thanks and kind regards...Morgan

Sorry missed query regarding Guards Vans. Does post 24 (Gresley Carriages in Detail) help? There is a photo in post 53 that shows the two curves (Gresley Carriages in Detail). Below the waist is the same, it is the upper panels that taper.

In the vast majority of Gresley stock the turnunder is a consistant 3".
No worries Mike. Thanks for this reply and the previous one with the three measurements. I've just looked at post #24 again and yes it does answer the question. Having the bottom width across corners is the key. I looked at the drawings of the BG numerous times and still missed the dimensions. :(

All the best...Morgan
