Wirral O Gauge Group is still going strong despite a lack of reports recently. This can be put down to a difficult and unsettling time which the Club has gone through, which hopefully is now behind us.
In November 2024we received a notice to Quit from our then landlord because of the proposed increase in business rates and the effect that it would have on our rented premises. The following six months gave us enough time to find new though smaller premises at St Andrews Community Centre in New Brighton – smaller but affordable. Our new landlord has done us proud and provided a newly refurbished, self-contained room. Once the necessary paperwork had been signed there was frantic activity stripping out and sorting the old clubroom and transferring what was required to the new.
We now have a shorter and much simplified layout, consisting of four independent loops, three of which, thanks to the Club’s whiz-kids, can take DC or DCC power at the flick of a switch. The fourth loop will take DC 2 or 3 rail locos. Our exhibition layout, Monson Road, is mounted along one wall above the main loops.

Lack of space prevents us from holding Open Days, though we hope to offer pre-arranged visits for small numbers in the future. The landlord had arranged a Community Day recently and asked whether we could showcase our efforts. We did and it was well received.
Here’s to a settled and successful future.
regards
Mike
