An occasional 9F

Some twenty years ago I purchased a Jim Harris 9f and recently after looking at Mike's thread ( spikey fazz)although his is not one of thes kits,I thought that maybe I would peer into the box. As I am currently waiting for some parts for a couple of things I thought that I would see if this kit is viable. I might just add that this will only be making an occasional appearance as my main interest is the LNWR but I certainly would like a 9f. . It is only resting on the chassis at the moment but it does kind of resemble a 9f. The main thing that I wanted to see was if I could get the smokebox, boiler, firebox and cab to all line up and fit, it appears that it may just do that. Anyway here is a photo of progress so far.

I have spent a couple hours tackling the firebox of a Crosti

Then spotted that the mudhole clamp on the lower corner is wrong.
Had to undergo attached therapy1000003831.jpg

Thanks to Spikey Faz for your excellent posts

A little update on the 9F. The joint that I was concerned about the most was the one between the cab/ firebox/boiler but it would seem that I may have almost cracked it. Here are some photos. This really is a very big engine. View attachment 252758View attachment 252759View attachment 252760View attachment 252761View attachment 252762
Check and double check the cab is level before soldering everything together.

I think you may need to lift the front of the cab a little to get the cab roof horizontal.

Yes, they are big! :D

I must admit that I look a Mike's Crosti thread all of the time, the kit that l have has very few instructions and none of the parts are numbered on the etched. ,,,,,so thanks Mike.
