Guildex Modelling Competition - Sat 6th September

This is just nudge for Guild members who may not frequent the Guild forum in order to get you thinking about the modelling competition at Guildex and what you might possibly wish to enter.

For those people reading this, who think that their models are not good enough I urge you to think again. I used to think exactly the same until one year I plucked up the courage to enter something and although my entry didn't get placed, the judges spoke highly of it. I subsequently went on to have models placed regularly.

To encourage you further, just last year the Public Vote was won by a member from Australia, who had never entered anything before. He also picked up 3rd place in the Rolling stock section. A nice result from his first try.

Submit your modelling entry in one of the following categories:

  • Locomotives (steam powered prototypes)
  • Rolling stock (including steam-powered railcars)
  • Scenery
  • Modern Image (non-steam locomotive, railcar and multiple unit stock)
There is also a Popular Vote category for the entry gaining the most support in a ballot open to all Guildex attendees.

For those whose modelling interests are less traditional we have the Bob Alderman Award

The award is made annually for the best use of technology in a modelling project by a member of the Gauge O Guild.

The purpose is to encourage and recognise the adoption of new technology in O gauge modelling, where it makes for better modelling, operation, or simply more fun.

Just a reminder for fellow Gauge O Guild members, there is still time to enter your models in the modelling competition and by way of encouragement here is what is up for grabs

To completely misquote Jim Bowen, "here's what you could still win..."

To hopefully encourage a few more participants the closing date for the competition has been extended by a few days to Wednesday the 27th of August.

Get your entries in folks not long left to do so.
