I know this is perhaps a little early but I am drumming up support for this meeting being held on Sat. 8th. October 2011 in the village of Mark, Somerset. It is half way between Highbridge and Wedmore.
This is the secound year at this venue and there will be some traders of 7mm products in attendance, including Perfect Miniatures and Laurie Griffin amongst others. There will also be a test track I have been informed.
You don't have to be a Scale7 member to attend, so if you live near by come along and enjoy some 7mm modelling, but be warned, you may get converted to S7  ;D
I will post more details nearer the time, or you can contact me for info.

I'll be there again this year, with the 37 a little more complete than it was last year.  It was a nice little event and got chatting to a few people about many different things.

Just a reminder that there is five weeks to the S7 meet at Wells.
All welcome even if your not S7.

I hope so JB, The boards that were assembled last year were complete, so surely they must have laid some track for this year, as for Evans test track I don't know the score, I'll email and find out mate.

According to the newsletter I received today, the test track does indeed have track on it now, it's just a shame that I don't think I'll have anything to run on it!

Apparently a declaration of intent to David Nicholson at the event will get you entry into 'Challenge 33'.

Having twice now signally (and publicly  :-[) failed to produce a layout I'll have to come and make it third time lucky.  An absolute maximum of 33 square feet needs a bit of thinking about - but I've got a cunning plan ........  :D

See you there.

JB,

Yeah funny that - I love the layout and much of the modelling on there; but the operation?  Ye-urgh!  Add to that the last time I saw it they had a 'Castle' with a very average sound installation (a 7 and a half cylinders!) which just killed it for me...

The shed is based on Basingstoke, so it'd suit much of my stock rather well!

Um, no, Bournemouth as explained to me by Nigel Smith and pals when they brought 82G to our show in March.

If the layout was not operated correctly then maybe all and sundry can expand on how the job should have been done as I am keen to know...  I liked the raft of Panniers ebbing and flowing with time for that is sympathetic with photos of Old Oak.

Given that there seems to be a crush at the barrier whenever and wherever the layout is exhibited then those guys must be doing something which the paying customer wants to see.

Ooops, yes, sorry; Bournemouth.

Graham, Your thoughts on operation don't match mine at all.  I just had a thought that maybe they had recently converted the layout to DCC; there was an awful lot of 'finger trouble'.  Or maybe a novice operator; either way there were points not set correctly, wrong locos moving, crashes etc.

It actually had more going for it as a static diorama, I thought.  The locos were/are beautifully modelled and the backdrop of the shed is magnificent.  It's also obvious that the guys can get a loco chassis running sweetly enough.  That's why I always have a long look at the layout, it's charming.  Just not well operated on the couple of occasions I've seen it, IMHO.

This is all going very off topic, but we could have a layout 16ft deep by 2 ft wide  :))

r.e 82G, I was watching a couple of years back when it was definitely DC, and engines were running beautifully, but then as an engine was propelling off of the TT, engines were hitting dead sections that needed a switch throwing to make them live, once I see that I walk away.. It goes back to the old addage that layouts should be bullet proof, and hours of training and a lot of concentration are needed..

I'll admit that operation of West Mersea still needs 'streamlining', but then no one is 'paying' to see it...
